Carpet!!!

We enjoyed a nice weekend home this last weekend. I had the weekend off so we decided to try to get as much bathroom/bedroom done as possible!

I mentioned that we had Meredith on Thursday night. Here are a few pics I took of the kids at the park. We also went the library and then headed to the store to pick up ice cream and dinner stuff.
On Friday Rick ran up to Tri-Cities to pick up the carpet for the bedroom. We had planned on putting it in when he got back but I had a wee little problem pop up while he was gone.... I backed up the kitchen sink. Add salad to the list of DO NOT PUT IN THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL IN EXCESS! I caught Rick at Home Depot and told him to get a drain jet because I had already taken apart the pipe under the sink and that didn't cure the problem. It took both of us to get the dang thing unplugged. Rick had to go up on the roof and hold his hand over the vent to get it pressurize enough to break that junk down. What a night! And needless to say, I was not real popular.

Rick did some clean up in the bedroom and then I went in and helped him put in the tack strip and the pad. It was late enough that we both decided putting the carpet in would be best to hold off until morning.

We all slept in a little on Saturday morning, after breakfast Rick and I went to work. We were so lucky that the room is just under 12 foot wide so we didn't have any patching or trimming on the role. We got it all rolled out and Rick started with the stretcher. I mostly sat back and gave orders... more in this direction.....a little more over there, ect. We were very impressed that it took a little less than 2 hours and we had it in and looking GREAT. He decided that he needed some time off of house projects so he headed to the shop. Kaity went down to hang at Sue's house and Trace and I worked some on the house and a nap.

Saturday night Rick came home and Kaity and I headed to the Prosser basketball games to cheer on the Mustangs... Many of Kristin's old students play on Varsity so its fun to go see them. Kaitlyn was super excited because Carley (the gal we have babysit every so often) and her friend Jeanna were there. Prosser girls kicked some booty and the boys actually had a really good game. It was good enough that we stayed for the whole thing!

Here is a pic of Helen....after the 2nd nose break in 2 weekends! That is one tough and VERY cool girl! She is also one heck of an athlete!!!

When we got home Rick had put in the hard wood floor in the entry of our bedroom. It looks fantastic!! Just finished off the room so nicely.

Sunday we had the Gus family over to watch the game. Although I must admit, we watched VERY little of the game. Michelle and I shopped online for bedding.... the boys played the race game... the kids used my new room as a dance floor/wrestling ring. Kaitlyn at one point asked me if I would mind just keeping my bedroom in the basement and letting her have the bedroom as a dance floor...NOT A CHANCE IN YOU KNOW WHAT MY DEAR :-) I do have to say though, I had known how popular a room with nothing but plush cushy carpet would be, I would have given away all the toys and done it a long time ago!

So we are all back to work and school this week. Kaitlyn is now dancing twice a week and has swimming on Tuesday's. She got the very exciting news that she is ready for pre-swim team. She is quite the fish. We are going to probably wait until late spring to put her in though because with dance twice a week we just can't do 2 nights of swimming too. Since we have a family membership at the gym we can go swim 3 days a week and keep up her stokes until we can start. We went tonight and she swam over 10 laps instead of playing with all the other kids, talk about dedication out of a 8 year old!

I have to work all weekend so I'm not sure what else we will get done. We need to finish the closet before we can move the bedroom stuff in so we'll see how that goes. I sure could get used to having long weekends though! It is so nice being home.

I just now noticed the quote under the picture of you and Rick. I've never heard it before, but I LOVE it!

I also am loving being able to chat while our girls dance their little hearts out TWO days a week! I love ya, Karen!
