We Are Home!

We made it home safe and sound... boy did we have an amazing trip! I kept a journal of our days (Becky shared with me one that a friend kept during their vacation and it was awesome) and hopefully it will be a way the kids can remember all the cool stuff we did. So here is day 1:

Walt Disney World 2008

Day 1 Travel – We left the house at 3:30 am and headed to the Pasco airport. We were on the 5:20 flight and wanted to leave ourselves plenty of time to get there if the roads were bad. There was NO fog, we were so lucky since it had been around quite a bit in the last week.

Our flights were perfect, on-time each way. The kids were amazingly good. Trace was actually better than Kaitlyn. When we told him no about something he dropped it and moved on. Kaitlyn however tends to want to debate the NO and make a huge attempt at turning that into a yes. Maybe she has a law career in front of her. She was so concerned about her homework (which was a lot). I thought it was a bit rude that she continuously tried to wake me up from my sleep on the flight (not sure if it was because I was up all night making sure I had everything ready or the dramyimene that is supposed to be non-drowsy but apparently had the opposite effect on me!).

We arrived in Orlando at 4pm got our luggage and jumped on the bus to our hotel ~ Port Orleans. We stayed at the French Quarter and my parents stayed at the Riverside. The kids wanted nothing more than to get to the pool which had a big dragon in the middle with a waterslide coming out of its mouth. But by the time we got unpacked it had cooled off a lot and we were starving. We jumped on a boat and headed to Downtown Disney for dinner. I had heard that the T-Rex had opened and was a lot of fun. It did not disappoint. The restaurant was filled with dinosaurs and had a meteor shower every 20 minutes and an ice cave. The kids were in heaven.

After dinner we were exhausted so we jumped back on the boat and FROZE as we headed back to the hotel. The kids were so wound up though that it took quite a while to get them to sleep but when they did they crashed. Rick and I…not so much.
